Hi I hope somebody here can help me.

I am maintaining a website I built a while ago with FoodMood and I have an Alfheim Image Gallery Pro which slides between the gallery images on the homepage.
I just changed the K2 category and now suddenly I get loads of php errors on the homepage and the following error:

Warning
Update: :Extension: Could not open http://repos.bang2joom.com/modules/mod_b2j_alfheim_image_gallery_pro1.xml

Please could someone help me fix this?

Thanks in advance,
James

    Hi James,

We have changed the way extension needs to be updated on the website, in older version we used to have a update url which is no more available.
That is why you are seeing this error in the backend.
You can download the latest version from our website and install it at your end.

    Thank You

    Hi,

Alfheim Image Gallery Pro came with FoodMood the theme from B2J so presumably was included in the price.
I've had a full version of this for 4 years and it's been perfectly functional up until this point, you implied in your first message what I need is an update.
I hope i'm wrong here but as far as i can see you've changed your the way the extension needs to be updated so people have to re-purchase the plugin?

    Regards,
    James

    Hi James,

If my first message gives you the impression that all the included extensions are available free of cost and let me clarify it.
In the template package we provide multiple extension installed (free and paid), which does not implies that all the upcoming versions of paid extension(s) will be available to template customer.
We time to time make changes in the extension and its upgrade process not because we want any trouble for our customers or to force them to purchase. But it totally depends what is getting changed in Joomla and what is more convenient to us in terms of maintenance.

    Thank You

    Hi,

Yes I understand that but also there was also nothing suggested originally that I would have to pay again for the extension further down the line. This should have been stipulated apon purchasing the theme.

Its a little immoral to without prior mentioning make an extension stop working then tell customers it has to paid for again. I understand that some upgrades are paid for and thats fine but usually it's optional if you want the newer version. I'm quite happy to stick with the older version but you've changed your system so this isn't an option, therefore essentially yes you are forcing people to purchase.

It appears to me as though you've just made the changes as to hook existing purchasers onto a yearly pricing model.

    Regards,
    James

Here's a quote from your initial press release for FoodMood.

"We have also included mighty B2J extensions created by Bang2Joom developers for a clean, professional website, such as B2J Alfheim Image Gallery PRO, B2J Aquarius Layer Slider, B2J Calendar for K2 and the soon to be released B2J Contact Component."

Theres no small print or documentation anywhere I can see that stipulates the plugins your advertising as being included would later need to payed for again to remain operational.

    Hi James,

In your first message you have clearly mentioned that you are seeing a warning message about the extension update.
Its not like the extension has stopped working.

Please note that the warning you are seeing is totally independent of the actual extension functionality. Your installed extension will still work without any issue.
You can still use the older version and ignore the warning message.

    Hi,

Perhaps you didn't read my initial support ticket correctly. I mentioned 2 points - the warning message in the backend and also the PHP errors on the homepage which do cause the plugin to stop working correctly.

All I have done is change a k2 category to pull in a different set of images and the image carousel I had on the homepage has stopped working and lists php errors instead.

    Regards,
    James

    Hi James,

You need to purchase subscription of Alfheim Image Gallery Pro if you would like to get the latest version and need support services for the same.
You can refer our Terms of Service section if you have confusion. Here is the link : http://www.codextrous.com/terms-of-service.html

    James,

Can you please check whether there is any data in #__b2jcontact_details and #__b2jcontact_settings database tables?
Which joomla version you are using currently?
