not sure how to add fields

I need a VERY simple contact form: Name, Email, Message. The Name and Email part are automatic; they are included as Defaults. I named the form Contact (alias contact) under Basic Options, then created a Group called Contact and a text field called Message as part of that group in the Fields section, but all I get after saving are Name and Email. Can someone please explain what I need to do differently. Thank you in advance.
